Oslo Science Park and the surrounding neighborhood are host to multiple science and research institutes, academic institutions, and innovative companies. And believe it or not, the area also boasts a few attractions beyond the workplace!

The Science Park is located in the middle of the innovation district Oslo Science City. It is Norway's most knowledge-intensive area, with the country's leading university, the largest hospital in the Nordic region, internationally leading research institutes, and dynamic startup environments.

The neighborhood is not characterized by a bustling nightlife or bustling cafes, but there are still many hidden treasures. How about an art walk? Or a workout in the open air?

Would you like to explore the area? Here are some recommendations:

Art:

  1. "The Researcher" is a wall mural by artist Martin Whatsson. He is known for his colorful graffiti murals combined with black-and-white stencil figures. You can find it on the wall of the Science Park near the staff entrance closest to Blindern T.

  2. "Kammertone A" is part of the work "Equations in Stainless Steel" by Bård Breivik, which adorns the informatics building at UiO - the Science Park's closest neighbor.

  3. "Brudt form" by Aase Texmon Rygh (1925) in front of Niels Treschow's house at the University of Oslo serves as 'applied art'. The sculpture is a meeting place, and in a short time, it has become a natural part of the outdoor space.

Exercise:

  1. At the Domus Athletica swimming hall, you will find both a 25-meter swimming pool and a smaller pool with a temperature of 33 degrees. All tenants in Oslo Science Park get a membership at a reduced price.

  2. Outdoor exercise equipment for strength training can be found on the east side of Oslo Science Park, along Gaustadbekken.

  3. At Tørteberg Kunstgress (Friggfeltet), there is plenty of space for ball games and training.

Food:

  1. The legendary Dana Bakery under the bridge by Forskningsparken T is worth a visit. Delicious food at a reasonable price.

  2. Vindern is only a 10 minutes walk away. There you can find eateries such as Sabi Sushi, Åpent Bakeri, and Little Italy.

  3. Our own Parken Bakery serves delicious sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. They are also open in the evening one day a week with a bar and pizza service.
