Recycling in Oslo Science Park

In the recycling station in U1, right by the exit from the garage, you will find containers for waste. There, you can dispose of special waste such as glass, porcelain, metal, electronic waste, and batteries.

Do you have something that is still usable? Share it in the Forskningsparken Community on Facebook, so maybe someone in Forskningsparken can inherit it instead of it going to waste.

Larger amounts of waste

If you have larger amounts of waste, contact vaktmester@forskningsparken.no. We can assist, for example, by ordering extra waste containers and secure shredding. When moving, we can help with dismantling and ensure the correct transport route through the building or placement of a container. The tenant must bear this cost.

You can deliver the following to the Environmental Station:

Organic waste

  • Food leftovers

  • Coffee filters/grounds

  • Paper towels/paper napkins

  • Food paper

  • Tea bags

  • Nutshells

  • Meat and bones

  • Organic waste is emptied regularly – once a day.

Do not throw away: Coffee capsules, these should go in residual waste.

Cardboard/paper/carton

  • Copy paper

  • Data sheets

  • Newspapers

  • Magazines

  • Envelopes

  • Advertisements

  • Gray paper

  • Shredded paper

  • Brown cardboard

  • Solid cardboard

  • Carton/empty pizza boxes

  • Drink carton (Rinse-Flatten-Stack)

Residual waste

  • Anything you cannot sort

  • Styrofoam

Combustible waste is what remains after sorting out paper, plastic packaging, organic waste, glass and metal packaging, wood, metals, hazardous waste, and electronic waste.

Plastic packaging, soft plastic

  • Clear and colored plastic bags

  • Plastic bags

  • Stretch film

  • Pallet covers

  • Transport film

  • Bubble wrap

  • Soft foam plastic

  • All other plastic packaging

Plastic film is thrown into the bag rack in the Environmental Station. This is plastic that normally occurs when unpacking goods, and it can often be large volumes. If you frequently unpack goods, it may be wise to have a separate bag rack for sorting soft plastic film.

For laboratories:

Return plastic of types LDPE (soft film) HDPE/PP (plastic cans) PET (plastic bottles) should be collected in a separate 240L clear plastic bag with a tie. The bag is placed in a marked area outside the environmental station. Plastic bags are purchased by the tenant.

Strapping and styrofoam are disposed of as residual waste.

Plastic packaging, hard plastic

  • Plastic bottles, plastic cans, plastic boxes

  • Laminates of plastic, rigid plastic in the form of cups, etc.

  • Flower pots

  • Stiff transport packaging in plastic, such as when purchasing computer equipment

Do not throw away: Styrofoam, this goes in the residual waste compactor.

Electronic waste

  • PCs

  • Copy machine

  • Mobile phones

  • Lamps

  • TV

  • Electrical appliances

  • Cables/wires

Placed in a separate cage located between the compactors.

Glass and metal packaging

  • Soda, wine, and beer bottles, disposable bottles

  • Food packaging bottles/glass Food packaging bottles in glass

  • Brown laboratory glass, cleaned

  • Canned food cans

  • Aluminum products/forms

  • Metal cans without a deposit

  • Tubes for caviar, cheese, etc.

  • Metal lids from preserving jars and bottles

  • Aluminum foil

Do not throw away: Drinking glasses, they may contain lead and impair recycling quality. Drinking glasses go in Porcelain and ceramics.

Iron/metal

  • Metal rails and other metal objects

  • Products of magnetic iron

Placed in a separate 660-liter container located between the compactors.

Wood

  • Pallets

  • Furniture without major metal objects (<1kg)

This is placed in a marked place outside the environmental station. See map below. For large amounts of wood/furniture waste, contact vaktmester@forskningsparken.no

Porcelain/ceramics

  • Pyrex flasks, test tubes, and similar laboratory glass that is not packaging

  • Brown laboratory glass, not cleaned

  • Porcelain, ceramics

  • Cups

  • Drinking glasses

  • Serving trays

Batteries

  • Alkaline batteries

  • Button cell

  • Mobile phone batteries

  • Rechargeable batteries

Note: All Li-ion batteries must be taped on the poles/contact points to reduce the risk of short circuiting. Larger lead batteries should be delivered to dealers of these.

If you want a separate local collection box for batteries, contact the reception. You must empty this container into the battery return point inside the Environmental Station.

Fluorescent tubes and energy-saving bulbs

  • Fluorescent tubes

  • Energy-saving bulbs

  • Socket bulbs

  • Infectious waste

Forskningsparken has a permanently locked room (no. 11202) for intermediate storage of this type of waste. The room has an entrance via the Environmental Station. Access to the room via card-controlled door. This room is only for short-term intermediate storage of small amounts of special waste, typically in connection with laboratory activities in Forskningsparken.

A separate procedure applies to the room. Contact vaktmester@forskningsparken.no for more information."
